The foundational call of Christians to charity is a frequent theme of the Gospels. During Lent, we are asked to focus more intently on “almsgiving,” which means donating money or goods to the poor and performing other acts of charity. As one of the three pillars of Lenten practice, almsgiving is “a witness to fraternal charity” and “a work of justice pleasing to God.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, no. 2462).

This year’s Lenten Project is a Regional project. Each weekend during Lent, you are asked to contribute items requested by area charities. Project. At OLSH, the items can be brought to the Marian Room kitchen. At SSPP, boxes will be under the steps in the back of church Please do not donate food that is past the expiration date or that has been opened. Listed below is the schedule. Please help by sharing your blessings with those less fortunate.
